You can find great food pretty much anywhere in Lisbon. But there are some restaurants you really can’t miss.

Atira-te ao Rio

Rua do Ginjal 69, 2800–284 Almada

Atira-te ao Rio (Jump in the River) is a restaurant in Almada with a breathless overview of Lisbon. Enjoy a lovely afternoon surrounded by great fresh fish, seasonal food and music.

Ponto Final

R. Ginjal 72, 2800 Almada

Ponto Final (Final Point) is also in Almada, just a quick boat ride from Cais do Sodré (Lisbon city center) to Cacilhas (Almada). It sits in the south bank of the river Tagus and has a great view of Lisbon. It’s better to call ahead and reserve a table. 6pm is a good time to have an early dinner with the sunset cast over Lisbon. Lots of traditional Portuguese foods you can try here: salted cod with chickpeas, escabeche sardines, Alentejo bread, tomato rice with deep-fried baby mackerels and more.

Tasquinha do Lagarto

R. de Campolide 273, Lisboa

Tasquinha do Lagarto is a restaurant outside of the tourist centre of Lisbon. The family from the Minho region who runs the restaurant offers several dishes of regional cuisine and traditional Portuguese. They love football, so football is at the center of all the conversations, all met with good humor.

Jockey Club Restaurant

Sociedade Hípica Portuguesa Hipódromo do Campo Grande, 1600–008 Lisboa

Jockey Club Restaurante stays hidden from the rest of world. Located at the Hipódromo do Campo Grande (Campo Grande Hippodrome), so you can feel the equestrian environment within the city center. Their speciality is tradicional Portuguese cuisine, focused on meats and sausages. A cosy environment to enjoy.

Pizzeria Casanova

Av. Infante Dom Henrique Loja 7, 1900–264 Lisboa

To run away from portuguese dishes a little, our recommendation is Pizzeria Casanova in Santa Apolónia, with wood oven Italian pizzas to enjoy by the Tagus River. A light and breezy space to go with friends.

Palácio Chiado

R. Alecrim 70, 1200–018 Lisboa

Palácio Chiado is a new hit in Lisbon. A palace built in 1781 with restaurants and bars where everyone has to go. Here you can taste some delicious dishes like sea food, sushi, meat, burgers, or go to the bar and drink some iconic cocktails or handmade beers.
